I just love showers! I think it's so neat to get to celebrate such happy, special, life-changing events as marriage and babies! It seems like I've mostly been a part of baby showers in the past 6-8 years, so it was exciting to get to help with a bridal shower last night! It was for Rhett's wonderful Kindergarten teacher, Miss Johns, who is getting married to "Mr. Will" (the kids call him) in October. She is beautiful on the inside and outside and has been such a blessing to our family this year. She has a sweet, joyful, fun spirit and you can tell she loves her students--and they all adore her, too! It's been a great year, and the shower for her last night was a great way to end it!
Micah said her favorite color is hot pink, so we tried to use a lot of pink in the decorations. One of the other hostesses did these bags filled with pink, purple, white and silver tissue and tied matching balloons to the handles. (They were going to have pictures of the engaged couple on them instead of their monogram, but I think the pictures printed fuzzy so this was Plan B--which I thought turned out cute too!)
And another hostess, Kim, had this sweet idea to have a display of twenty pink roses--one to represent each student in Micah's Kindergarten class. I just loved how she did this! She printed a tag with each child's name and tied them to the stems.
This is the community center/park where the event was held. And I know I'm wearing out this idea of the tissue paper pom-poms as decoration for events, but they are just too easy, inexpensive and festive not to use! ha! I thought hanging them from the wooden beam made a welcoming entrance! :) (Thank goodness there was a taller hostess than me there or this location would not have worked!)
We had bottled waters and juice boxes on ice on the front porch for the kids (it was a mom & student shower).
My neighbor was so kind to let me cut stems from her gorgeous hydrangea yesterday. I think they're so pretty. I brought them back home and have enjoyed them in my kitchen today!
You might recognize the drink dispenser from my previous post about Jeryn's 3rd birthday. The red cowboy bandanna was replaced with a pink "H" for her soon-to-be last name, and the lemonade was replaced with another mom's Yellow Party Punch--recipe below. It was DE-licious!
Yellow Party Punch Recipe
4 Cups Sugar4 Cups Water
1 can (20 oz) frozen orange juice
1 can (20 oz) frozen pineapple juice
1 can (12 oz) frozen lemonade
3 bananas, blended in a blender
4 quarts 7 Up or Sprite
2 tsp lemon juice
Boil sugar and water. Let cool. Add next 4 ingredients; mix and freeze in 2 covered containers.
When ready to serve, thaw 1 to 2 hours. Place in bowl, add lemon juice and chilled 7-up or Sprite.
Take out of freezer two hours before time to serve. Add 6 (10 oz) bottles of cold 7-up. Serves 50 – 100.
We ordered cupcakes (half white, half chocolate) with plain white icing from Sam's and then added pink sprinkles and "H" cupcake picks.

Kim also brought Micah a cute pink lei with a big plastic engagement ring tied to it to wear during the party!
You can tell all the kids love her--they hovered over her the entire time she opened gifts. Poor Micah, I think she was about to have a heat stroke--she couldn't get any air! It didn't help that it was still in the 90s yesterday evening, and super humid!
A funny gift that she got--a pooper scooper! :) She says that it was her fiance that scanned this item for the registry!
These next two pictures are out of order, but I thought they were funny--Rhett and I had a hard time fitting three dozen balloons into our Tahoe on the way there last night. I only popped one in the process. Luckily the park was only about 1/4 mile from Party City, so me not being able to see in any of my car mirrors wasn't too big of an issue.

So, at the end of the night we didn't know what to do with all the balloons. We decided to cut them apart and let the kids release them, which they thought was exciting. :)
Rhett will miss her next year!
I'll always remember that this is who taught Rhett to read--such a big event for a child! I have an even deeper appreciation for teachers now after this school year! I'm thankful for the way she has invested in our sweet boy!
