Fresh Air

Why would anyone want to stay inside on a beautiful day like today!? It seems like we had an unusually long, snowy winter and then an extra hot/dry summer, but October has made up for both! We have had five perfect-weather weekends, and I'm so thankful for them!

Alexee had a birthday party to go to this morning and our neighbor offered to let her ride with them. Lane wanted to watch the football game and Rhett and I didn't, so we (along with Crosby) went to the new walking/biking bridge. There were lots of people there--jogging, walking dogs, biking, fishing, etc., so I felt safe but it still didn't seem crowded. There was also some sort of bike race going on so people kept passing us for that. I was a little worried about Rhett riding his bike with people trying to go by us, but he did great.

Crosby hasn't been a big fan of the stroller lately, but he did fine today. I think he enjoyed the scenery and maybe even got a little sleepy (he was up bright-and-early today).
fall color!
The tree-lined trail was really pretty
Those houses up on the bluff have neat views!
He's growing up so fast! He's wishing for a bigger bike for Christmas.
Rhett snapped several pictures, but we never could get Crosby to look--I guess the sun was too bright.

Carving the Pumpkins (by Rhett)

We carved our pumpkins on Thursday. We want to show you some pics today.
Me scooping the goo out with my hands.
After a few minutes Crosby joined the fun.
Alexee started out with her hands but soon she just watched us do it.

Alexee found a small pumpkin for Crosby and Bogart. C decorated it today.

Nursery Art: Hudson & Ava Kate

A few recent paintings...

I barely finished this one in time...baby Hudson Parker decided to arrive two weeks early! I went by their house tonight and he is SOOOO cute! I could have just sat and looked at him for hours (but I didn't because my own kids were running wild in their front yard--I wouldn't let them come inside because they all three have coughs.)

My friend Leslie sent me this picture of H's crib bedding to go by. The bed skirt is the same as the piping, and the nursery walls are khaki.
The verse at the bottom is "I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
And I just shipped these two pieces to my friend, Tonya, who is giving them as baby gifts at a friend's Sip & See this weekend:
14" x 14"
hair bow holder
Lots of pink! But I think Tonya told me that this mom is welcoming her third daughter, so I guess pink is what she's used to!
Now I'm shifting to blue tones and getting started on one based on this fabric--I'm really excited about it! I think this bedding is so pretty.

Jack-O-Lanterns

The kids were excited to finally get to carve our pumpkins yesterday when Lane got home!

Scooping out the "pumpkin goo" as Rhett calls it
Crosby quickly lost interest in the project and went back to watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but he did help scoop for a few minutes.
So glad Lane was home to help!

Lane helped Alexee with her pumpkin. Here they are with the finished product.
Rhett drew the face like he wanted it, and I carved it for him. Here we are with our finished jack-o-lantern.
I think they had a lot of fun!
A's expression makes me laugh in this one:
