Memorial Day in Hot Springs

We made a day-trip to Hot Springs on Monday to spend Memorial Day with L's parents. They kept Crosby while Lane and I took Rhett & Alexee to a museum that they enjoy going to. They were both so good and had a lot of fun while we were there. Alexee seems like she's "grown up" a lot since Crosby's birth. She is talking so much and wants to be involved in everything. I love her expression in the second picture. This was her reaction when the model building fell during the earthquake experiment.

Rhett said, "Look, 'M' for Mommy!" :)

After the museum visit we went back to the condo, and Bob grilled steaks for lunch--yum! C took a 3 hour nap in the bouncy seat while R & A played with Grammy & Bobba. It was a good day.

Two months old!

Update: C had his check-up this morning (5/27). He weighs 11 lb. 6 oz. and measures 22 1/2"...a healthy, happy boy.
Crosby is two months old (on the 26th)! Last week I heard him "cooing" for the first time, and it sounded so sweet! He's grown a lot in length--I've noticed several of his outfits getting too short for him. :( I think his hair (what little he had at birth) is falling out, and it looks like it's coming back in blond. I wonder if he will look like Rhett & Alexee. He seems to enjoy baths more and more. He recognizes our voices and does a little smile at us--I LOVE it! He still wakes up two or three times during the night to eat...usually around 11 p.m., 2 a.m. and then around 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. At the 5:30/6:00 a.m. feeding I often just sit and hold him until the rest of the house wakes up--he'll sleep on my shoulder, and I fall asleep in the chair. He'd probably go back to sleep in his bed, but I honestly like that time just to hold him. He's growing and changing so fast, and I really want to savor every little moment!

Tub time

Rhett & Alexee like to take baths in our tub. The more bubbles the better. They put the bubbles on their faces and say, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas" over and over again! They splash and dump water all over the place (it usually requires several towels to dry up the floor and dry them off afterward, but it keeps them entertained for quite a while so it's worth it!)

Sip-n-See

It's been a fun day! My friends Ali, Heather, Lianne & Stacy were so sweet to host a Sip-n-See for Crosby this morning! Stacy and Heather were both in town from Houston, and it was great to see them and catch up. I picked Heather up at the airport last night, came home to put Crosby down for bed, then Heather and I went to Macaroni Grill for dinner--it was a nice night out.

These iced sugar cookies are one of my favorite things from a local bakery. I loved the way they were decorated.

They also served a delicious breakfast casserole...I need to get the recipe from Ali and share it here...I'll try to do that!

Lianne did not actually get to attend because she was out of town for her brother's wedding, but here are the other hostesses: Heather, Stacy and Ali...Thank you, girls!!! I appreciate you so much! Friends are such a blessing.

I think Crosby thought it was a "Sit-n-Sleep". He was fussy when I first arrived, so I put him back in the carrier thinking he'd just take a quick little nap. Well, he slept through the whole party! I woke him right before we left so I could at least have my picture made with him at his party. :)

Just little things

...Nothing huge to report on here this week, although it has seemed busy. Bogart discovered a turtle trying to crawl under the fence on Sunday, so Rhett and I looked at it for a while.And we checked on R's morning glory plants...they're coming up nicely at the edge of the deck.

And he wrote his ABCs with just a tiny bit of help from Lane on the J, M, W and Z. Hopefully he's ready for kindergarten! Preschool ended yesterday, so we took gifts and cookies to the teachers and the ladies in the front office. I forgot to take pictures of the teacher gifts, but we found cute, colorful red & blue ice buckets at Hobby Lobby, stuffed them with red tissue paper and filled them with Snickerdoodles. Then we tied them with red, white and blue ribbon and added a thank-you note/tag on star scrapbook paper. I thought they would be a practical gift for them to use this summer.
And one of the highlights of my week: Alexee wore pig-tails for the first time! This was her before school on Monday in a seashell outfit from Gymboree and matching curly-ribbons in her hair. Of course she'd taken the pig-tails down by the time I came back to pick her up, but it was fun for a while! Lane said, "That's about the cutest thing I've ever seen." :)

I went by one of our local children's clothing stores on Monday and couldn't resist these two outfits for Crosby. The one on the right is made by a company called Heavenly Wear, and it says, "marked as Christ's own forever". I thought it was so sweet.
Lane and I (and Crosby) met for lunch yesterday, then L's parents came through town yesterday afternoon. They kept A & C for me while I took R to his swim lesson. Wow, it seemed effortless to just take R to the lesson instead of trying to get the whole crew there! Since Crosby wasn't hanging out with me during the lesson, I walked a mile on the track while R was swimming. L's parents stayed for a while and Lane grilled burgers for dinner. After they left, we watched the American Idol finale, and we were so happy with the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before church

Alexee was sick last Sunday, so we missed church on Mother's Day. Today the kids wore the outfits that they would have worn last week, and we made time for a few quick pictures before church.

Camping trip

The day started out rainy (again). So we made a tent and went "camping". Am I the only adult who still loves a good indoor tent? Rhett got out his toy gun and suggested we "get a good night's rest then go hunt some deer in the morning". I guess the deer hunting wasn't too productive because we had a snack of dry Cinnamon Toast Crunch instead. Alexee stressed Rhett out by constantly jumping on top of the tent and knocking down the pillow-door he'd made between sections. Bogart got in the tent at one point to eat any extra cereal. We call him the "Bobo-Buster"...he's great for clean up. My sister picked him up from the groomer one time for me and said he did wonders for her car on the way home--he ate all the Cheerios, cracker crumbs, candy, etc. around the kids' car seats! :)
