Kids' Activities

I love these fall evenings!  This sky was so pretty during Crosby's flag football practice.  It made me think back to the first fall we lived here...I would sit at his practices and try not to cry because I missed Little Rock so much.  Two years has made a big difference though, and I'm thankful that we feel much more settled now.
I went to the character assembly at A's school one afternoon because she received the monthly good character award from her teacher.  The September character focus was "respect".  We're proud of her for this!
She's really enjoying basketball and learning a lot!  I wish we still lived close to my sister so she could share her basketball skills with Alexee.  I'm certainly no help, but I'm a loyal fan.  :)
Last Saturday was the first football game and first volleyball game, and both teams won!  All the kids did great--it was fun to watch.  Crosby scored a touchdown, and Alexee scored some points on her serves!  I don't have any pictures, but Rhett is also really liking the fall tennis clinic that he is doing.  It's a continuation of the two week summer class that he did in July.  We were happy to find out that they'd be offering a fall clinic, October - November.  It meets twice a week, and he always looks forward to going.
First football game
A fun group of boys!
First volleyball game
Another sweet group--so glad she's playing!
Watching TV before bed that night--we were all tired!
Rhett on hat day (spirit week), Alexee at church, and Crosby on book character day (also part of spirit week).
Sunday, September 25th
How are they this big!!?
Tomorrow is the first day of my favorite month!
HAPPY FALL!

Grammy's Birthday Weekend

We had a great weekend with Lane's parents September 9th-12th.  Grammy's birthday was earlier that week, so we celebrated her special day with lunch at the Keeter Center on Saturday.  The staff sang to her and brought her a delicious chocolate dessert.  We are thankful for her!

The kids' meals come with clown cone desserts with homemade ice cream.
After lunch we stopped by the 9/11 Memorial on the C of O campus.  It's hard to believe that this horrible event took place 15 years ago.  The news coverage is still so vivid in my mind.  Lane and I had only been married a couple of months.  We were on our way to the office in downtown Little Rock when we heard that the first plane had hit the World Trade Center.
On a much lighter note, we took the kids to the Track that afternoon.  They rode go-carts, bumper cars and played arcade games.  :)
Crosby was having so much fun in the bumper cars!  Loved seeing them laugh together!
Fun day!
That evening we watched the Razorback football game and had taco soup for dinner.  I went on a quick walk before dark and saw this pretty fawn resting just a few feet from the road.  So sweet!

Life Lately

School started and things got busy in a hurry around here.  We're already four weeks into the school year, which is hard to believe!  Rhett is doing Math Club, group Bible study, K-Life and fall Tennis Academy.  Alexee is doing Volleyball, Basketball, Drama Club, Book Club, and Medical Club.  Crosby is doing Flag Football, and he and Alexee were both enrolled in gymnastics but football and basketball practices got booked at the exact same time so we've had to quit going to gymnastics for now.  Anyway, here is a quick update of some things that have been going on here:

A picture from a recent Sunday morning before church.
On 8/27 my Dad came up for the day to help Lane pour the concrete base for the kids' basketball goal.  It was very hot, there were horse flies buzzing around them, and they hit solid rock about 2' down, but they got the job done.  We were very appreciative of Dad's help, and the boys liked helping mix the concrete.
Alexee auditioned for 4th-6th Grade Drama Club on 9/1.  The girls' audition piece was Sally's rant from It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.  She received a letter at school on 9/2 stating that she had been chosen to participate in Drama Club, and she was so excited!
Lane's birthday was 8/31.  We went out to dinner that night, then had strawberry cake at home.   Happy Birthday, L!  We love you!
My sister's family stayed with us on 9/3 (Labor Day Weekend).  My parents drove up for the evening too, and we had fun eating outside and watching the kids swim.  It was great to have them here, and so fun to get to hold my sweet nephew (1 month old then).
loving their cousin time!
Baby picture overload here...but we are so crazy about him!  He is such a blessing.  And he smiled at me A LOT, which made my day!  :)  Can't wait to hold him again.
The guys also finished installing the basketball goal that evening.  Thankful for their help!
This sweet boy got plenty of attention.  He was probably tired of us!
Sunday, 9/4/16
Monday night we went to eat at Joe's Crab Shack.  It was a pretty evening walking by the lake.
We had a beautiful double rainbow one evening.
Below:
--Alexee's first volleyball practice of the season.  Looking forward to a fun season!
--I packed away a keepsake box of her princess/baby girl books.  She read this little Disney princess series a million times!  It makes me sad that she has outgrown them.
--Rhett has an agri class this first 6 weeks of school, and he had a test last week over the parts of a cow and a pig.  He's great at memorizing things, but for some reason this seemed overwhelming to him at first.  He studied hard and made 100%.
I'm volunteering in the library at C's school some this year, so it was fun to work there then have lunch with this cutie last Wednesday!  He's great about doing his nightly reading time with no complaints.  He likes for me to listen to him read, especially Marvel stories.  :)
I'm thankful every day that I get to be Mom to these precious kids!
