Things have seemed busy lately. Crosby is playing baseball and soccer. Baseball games don't actually start for a while, but they're practicing once a week. He says he has so much fun at practice though that he wishes they met more often! We've had two soccer games, and he's loving that too.

C's birthday fell on Easter weekend this year! The Wednesday before we took birthday donuts to his class, and his teacher sent this cute picture of the kids in their Krispy Kreme hats.
And on Thursday I brought him Subway for his birthday lunch and then attended his spring party in the classroom. They made bunnies out of paper plates and played a fun memory game. I can't believe he's almost finished with 1st grade. This has been such a fast school year, and I'm sad to see it coming to an end...it has been a sweet year.
Saturday morning he opened gifts, and I made his requested breakfast--monkey bread. I put a "7" candle in it, which melted and fell over during pictures...oops!

Crosby is very thoughtful, sweet and sensitive. He thinks about others and is a caring friend. He loves to have fun and loves to laugh (he even makes up his own jokes), so he always keeps us entertained! He likes to be involved in everything...baseball, soccer, basketball, flag-football, etc. (he has been asking to take karate and drum lessons but we haven't made time for those yet). He also likes Legos, Wii, Minecraft, riding his bike and playing with friends. He's neat and organized and wants his clothes to always match. He is a great student, but if I ask him his favorite part of school he says lunch and recess. :) He is a joy and a blessing to our family, and we are all so thankful for him!
He was invited to another friend's spy-themed birthday party that Saturday, and they were asked to dress in all black. He has a blast there! The little boy's mom made spy name badges, had a secret mission for the boys to complete, etc. He talked about how fun it was all afternoon! After the party he had his first soccer game, then we had lunch at Freddy's (his choice)! It was definitely a fun-filled birthday!
Then the next day was Easter Sunday! My favorite holiday, but it was so early this year that I didn't really feel quite prepared. It seemed to slip up on us with spring break and all the birthday celebrations we've had lately. But anyway, the kids found their Easter baskets before church, then we went to early service because Lane had to work at 2:00 that afternoon. We hurried home and I cooked lunch here. We had turkey and dressing, cranberry sauce, potato casserole, baked pineapple, grape salad, rolls and banana pudding. We dyed eggs on Saturday, but it was too cold and rainy to hunt them outside on Sunday. Alexee helped me cute redbud branches from our yard for a centerpiece. The redbuds have been so pretty lately, and now the dogwoods are in full bloom! It was a wonderful day of celebrating our RISEN SAVIOR! Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

That evening my parents called and asked if we were home...they wanted to bring Crosby's birthday gift up, so that was a great surprise! I built a fire, and we had coffee and banana pudding and the boys worked on C's new Lego set. He'd been wanting this Lego prison to go with his Lego police station--he was super excited to get started on it!
On Tuesday 3/22 Rhett's class and one other 6th grade class presented Night at the Museum in the school library. The kids had to dress up as their history research character and give a short speech about what they'd learned. Rhett was Walt Disney. It was a neat event, and the kids all did great!

On Wednesday, 3/23 Alexee and two of her friends got to teach their class about dialogue for their group English project. They made a video after school one day and then also had lesson plans and played a game. Alexee loved doing this! Maybe she will be a teacher someday!?
On Thursday the 31st we had Crosby's birthday party with his friends at the mini-golf course. The golf course is Pirates Cove, so we went with a pirate theme. We had 11 1st grade boys, plus Rhett and Alexee. It was a wild couple of hours with this energetic bunch, but they seemed to have a great time. When we were walking to the car afterward Crosby said, "That was FUN!", so I considered it a birthday party success!
The boys all made pirate beards out of the cupcake icing, and they told me that pirates don't use napkins!
So glad he has lots of sweet friends to celebrate with!
Friday night I went to an event called
Pure Joy, a women's event that has worship music, testimonies, skits, etc. It was a fun night. Saturday afternoon we had soccer and then I took the kids to out to lunch after the game. It was during lunch that Alexee started feeling bad, and she ran fever for the next few days and missed two days of school this week. But she's lots better now and went back to school. Super thankful that no one else got sick. Sunday the boys both had birthday parties to go to, then Rhett played in a dodgeball tournament fundraiser at school. Busy times but good times! The days go by fast. We get out of school May 18th, so we're almost to the one month countdown!
