Summer Break/Week 2
Alexee and Crosby started swim lessons, which they were both excited about. I also took them back to the pool to swim two evenings. (I've decided that's a good time to go because it's a lot less crowded and you don't have to be concerned with sunscreen!) They all three love to swim--it's one of their favorite things about summer. And it's SO nice that C can swim with R & A now!
One morning while Alexee was in her swim lesson, Crosby and I walked over to the playground area. He's great at the monkey bars now!
Crosby got a haircut one afternoon, then we went to get ice cream and found the library. We sure miss having access to the LR public libraries. This one is small and privately funded, but I'm glad we discovered it. Rhett is enjoying reading
Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different.
One afternoon we all had to go to Target for a list of supplies, and the kids decided to combine their money to purchase a Slip-&-Slide. They had the best time with it! It was "perfect" because it had three lanes, one for each of them! :) I thought these action shots of them racing were fun (Alexee clearly won this one)!
We didn't have swim lessons on Friday, so that morning we went to pick blueberries.
Persimmon Hill Berry Farm is about 45 minutes away, but it was well worth the trip! It was a pretty drive out there, and the berry patch was really neat. We'd heard they serve breakfast too, so we ate there before picking. Rhett was in charge of photographing the cute signs while I was driving. :)
I love this picture...Alexee posing sweetly by the bear sign and both boys pretending to poke her with sticks. Such is life with brothers, I guess. :)
Breakfast was great! We'd heard about the "Thunder Muffins" and they did not disappoint! I just wish I'd thought to bring extras home with us. You could see them making the muffins through the big glass window. They also shared a blueberry milkshake--Yum!
Before we left the house Crosby wasn't in the mood to pick blueberries. He said it was boring and asked if he could sit in the car, but by this point he had his own bucket and was ready to go!
Someone nearby pointed out a little bunny eating under one of the bushes. We went over to look, then I went back to the berries. Soon after, Alexee came over to show me that she'd caught the bunny! It was SO sweet! They took turns holding it, and then let it go (although of course they asked if we could bring it home).
Such a pretty place! It was a fun little trip together.
We picked almost 5 lbs. of blueberries, and I wasn't sure what to do with all of them. I looked up a pie recipe and made one that afternoon, then we also added them to waffles the next morning.
