Phone Photos #12

On a walk with Crosby.
R & A with friends at the pool not long before school started back.
New shoes--Alexee chose these!
So tired he fell asleep eating.
close-up of one of the roses I bought for the back to school brunch.
After school one afternoon.
We've had so many hummingbirds this summer. They're fun to watch, but hard to get a picture of! You can barely see this one on the left side of the feeder, just above the flower.
Pretty morning. I snapped this in drop-off line at R's school.
Crowded at the new grocery store on Labor Day.
Thanks for the hair tip, Gretchan! :)
My favorite store-bought cookies. Made locally, too!
Alexee before gymnastics last week. Her cousin Katie gave her all this fun jewelry when we were in HS for Grammy's birthday.
Front door--getting ready for fall. I'm waiting a little longer to buy mums for the front steps because it's still in the 90s.
Rhett and neighbor friends having a wrestling match in the living room.
Something C found to do when I wasn't looking.
How I found R's bed made up one morning :)
My sweet baby boy.
Lane hitting "submit" on his residency application last weekend.
Cute diaper cake I saw at a children's store a few days ago.
Alexee swinging at gymnastics. She's really enjoying her lessons.

Sunday sprinkler & prayer requests

After church today I made Tortellini Soup and "The Bread" (yum!) from Pioneer Woman's blog. It was a quick and easy meal, but tasty!

I'm thankful for the beautiful afternoon we had today and for the opportunity to just sit and watch my kids play in the back yard. They wanted to play in the sprinkler again--it's one of their favorite things to do!
C loaded rocks into the dump truck.
Watching R hook up the sprinkler.
C's always interested in what his big brother is doing.
Look at Bogart in the background!
He got a bath as soon as we went inside.
Alexee collecting "beautiful rocks" :) She's so sweet!

*Prayer Requests*

*My heart is heavy tonight for Elizabeth, a close friend of my sister's. Elizabeth was in a terrible car accident last week, and is in very critical condition. Today is Elizabeth's 24th birthday. I just can't imagine what her family is going through right now. Would you please please pray for God to heal her and give her family strength? You can visit her prayer blog here.

*Also, would you please pray for my friend Amy and her family as they raise money to dig a well in Africa!? Would you consider donating to this wonderful cause? It will provide fresh water to so many and help with many water-related illnesses. Amy has SUCH a neat family and they all have a huge heart for loving and helping people. I know they would love for you to visit them at Friends of Fanose...they only have a few days remaining in this fundraising campaign! And while we're thinking about water and other needs around the world, would you also pray for Flo and a ministry opportunity she has for summer 2011!? As I watched my kids play in the sprinkler this afternoon I thought of how I take things like fresh water and health for granted. There are so many needs...these mentioned above are just a few ways you could make a difference today! Please PRAY!

Alexee's Room

I don't think I ever posted pictures of Alexee's room after we got her comforter, and I finally did a painting to hang above her bed so I decided to tidy up her room and snap some pictures for a quick tour.

View from her door
(I usually don't tuck the comforter in, but it's kind-of long and I wanted to show the toy baskets (Target) under the bed. Her bed is rarely made because she still takes an afternoon nap.)
View from one corner. Closet on left, bathroom on right.
Looking from bathroom door. I did the tulip painting for her nursery before she was born, and the armoire was in my bedroom at home. She keeps special toys in the top part and clothes in the drawers. I still want to put something on the wall to the left of the armoire...maybe frame a few of our favorite pictures of her...I'm not sure yet.
Here are a few of the little details around her room:
This border was here when we bought the house. I probably wouldn't have chosen it myself, but I like it fine. It actually matched her baby bedding perfectly so we left it, and now she is really in a "princess" phase, so it works great for her at this age, too. (I based the painting above her bed on the scene from the border.)
These were decorations at her 3rd birthday party, and I wanted to keep them for a while...so they're in the corner of her room for now.
I bought this little yellow bookshelf at an antique store in Arkadelphia when I was at OBU. Back then it was used to store my accounting textbooks, but now it holds many children's books. I keep thinking I'll repaint it purple or something, but I haven't made it to that project yet. I love the little Raggedy Ann and & Andy dolls that my Mom sent her. It was a neat surprise because I'd been thinking about buying her some of those dolls, but I'd never mentioned it to Mom. One day a package showed up in the mail and that's what was inside! :)
Bogart likes Alexee's bed. He has a designated sleeping spot or two in every room of the house. I think he likes the fluffy comforter.
The pillow with the blue ruffle border was mine when I was a child. On it is a little red-headed girl kneeling beside her bed for prayers. The hot pink princess pillow was a baby gift from my cousin, Tracie. Grammy bought Alexee the pretty purple kitty, which she loves.
The banner says "Once upon a time" because she is also into telling stories right now, and they almost all involve a princess doing some random thing (such as going to a cave...based on our recent experience in Branson).
"Princess Alexee" picking pink and purple flowers (in a lot of her stories)
This rocking horse was a baby gift from Lane's accounting group. Crosby likes it now, but it still "lives" in A's room.On the back of her door she has a memory verse memorization chart. She is doing great! It's such a joy to hear her say these!

Church playground and park picnic

Saturday morning at our church:
Beautiful blue skies and reminders of the freedom we enjoy!
I like the bamboo that is planted around the pools at church. We have an outdoor baptistry that is so pretty.
(Crosby was in the stroller because he'd already tried to climb in the water.)
Away from the water--back at the playground!
Then we moved on to a park with more shade for lunch. It's still almost hot here. I'm ready for it to be cool enough to need a long-sleeve shirt.
They loved the picnic and kept saying what a great idea it was. I've always thought ordinary food tasted better outside too!
They look a lot alike!
Oreo Stix make you strong!
Crosby was running to catch up with the other two at the swings. Right after I snapped this picture he fell down and scraped his knee. :(
So thankful for these three!
