Penguins

When Rhett got home from school today we decided to take the kids to the zoo to see the new penguin exhibit. Actually, we had some excitement before we even got to the zoo. We carpool with our neighbor, and Rhett rode home with her today. As she was pulling her car into her garage she saw a snake slither in the garage with her! Lane was here so I asked him to go help her try to find the snake. When he got there it was on top of a bicycle, but it got spooked by its audience and hurried under a storage shelf. It took a little while to locate the snake again, but Lane did find and kill it.

So...on to the zoo. The monkeys were active today--they were leaping from limb to limb, and C yelled "MONKEY!" several times when he saw them.
The penguins were really cute and fun to watch in the water. I'm glad we have this new exhibit.
Alexee asked me to take her picture in this penguin cut-out. :)
The kids always want to take a ride on the carousel. It was humid this afternoon so Rhett's face was pink from the heat!
And we weren't quite finished with penguins yet. Rhett had asked if we could go by Barnes & Noble while we were out because he wanted to use some of his allowance to buy Club Penguin guidebooks. So we made a quick stop there, and R couldn't wait to get home to play the Club Penguin game and use some of the hints he found in his new books.

Spring Olympics

We had a busy, fun-filled weekend with all the graduation events and the Spring Olympics. We were scheduled to have even more fun, but due to the rainy/stormy weather, both Rhett's Saturday morning soccer game and my niece and nephew's outdoor birthday party were canceled. My parents and Lane's parents spent the night at a hotel Friday night after the Honors Convocation, then they all met us at Gymnastics at 9:00 Saturday morning. It worked out great having everyone in town! We were so glad they were able to attend Alexee's first gymnastics exhibition.

Alexee was a little bit shy at first, but after a few minutes she was ready to show us all what she's learned in her weekly class. She started gymnastics last August, and is doing great. She's completed Tiny Tumblers I and part of TTII, and the coach thinks she will likely complete TTII by the end of the summer. She seems to really enjoy it. Here she is jumping on the trampoline.
The kids had not seen Mo & Granddad since mid-March, so they were excited to see them!
good job, Alexee!
The girls did a short routine to the music of Who Let the Dogs Out. Here's one of the "dogs" in the "house". :) It was cute!

She looks so big to me here!
At the end of the program each child received an award. She got shy again when her name was called.

Grammy and Bobba thought she did an outstanding job...
As did Mo & Granddad...
...and Mom & Dad!
SWEET, FUNNY GIRL!
Alexee invited everyone to lunch afterward. We ate at McAlister's and had a great time, then Mo and Granddad took Rhett with them and dropped him off at my sister's house to spend the night. The rest of us hurried back to the house to get ready for Lane's graduation that afternoon.
