2nd Grade Field Trip

Alexee's class had a fun and interesting field trip to the College of the Ozarks campus last week.  It started off very rainy, but the sun came out later in the day.  First they toured the dairy barns.  The college has a large Agriculture program.  The kids loved the Maternity Barn because there were several new calves in pens there.  The two tour guides explained the bottle feeding schedule, showed them how they give the calves medicine and then let the kids pet the babies.

The calves were gentle and seemed to like the attention!  The light brown one behind Alexee was just born the day before our visit.

We thought this chicken was funny.  It(?) was roaming around in the barn.

Next they toured the Tractor Museum.

By then it had stopped raining so we were able to walk across campus to the fire house.  

We stopped at "Lake Honor" for a class photo.

The fire station is operated by students.  They respond to calls both on and off campus.  The fire chief answered a lot of questions, and one of the firefighters demonstrated what it was like to put on all the gear in under 60 seconds.

The weather was warm/sunny enough by lunch time for them to picnic outside which was nice.  Then the last stop of the day was the Ralph Foster Museum (dedicated to the history of the Ozarks region). 

Alexee and her friend K liked this log cabin model, but they didn't think the bed looked very comfortable!

It was great to get to spend the day with Alexee and her classmates!

Crosby's Birthday Celebrations

Last Thursday we celebrated this sweet boy's 6th birthday!  He is so fun, easy-going, giving, helpful and loving. He is a great little Kindergarten student, he likes sports, super heroes, games on the iPad, Legos and pancakes.  He is a joy and we love him so much!

He started the day with chocolate chip pancakes before school.

Rhett was on Spring Break on his B-day so I picked up Subway sandwiches for both boys and had lunch with them on Thursday.

Those six years went by in a hurry.

He opened his gifts after dinner.  He'd asked us for the Lego City Police Station and the schnauzer Beanie Boo, Whiskers.

Friday he had four friends over for a birthday play-date after school.  They were so excited!  

When I asked him if there was a certain kind of cake he wanted for his party he said he'd like a white cake with blue icing and a cop car on it.  :)  

I think they had a good time!  I'm so glad they were able to celebrate with him.

And then Saturday Mo & Grandad came up for lunch at The Keeter Center.  The staff sang Happy Birthday to C and gave him a special dessert (in addition to the clown ice cream cone that already came with a kid's meal).

Spring Break, Part 4 (Friends Visit)

We had been looking forward to having Little Rock friends in town for the weekend of 3/20-22!  Ali and her kids got here Friday afternoon, everyone played for a while then we went to out to eat Mexican food that night--Rhett & Lawson's request.  They were our event planners for the weekend.  :)  Saturday's agenda:  Breakfast at Grandma Ruth's, wax museum, mini-golf & Subway for lunch.  (The boys also had bowling on the list, but we ran out of energy and decided to come home and play for the rest of the day and cook spaghetti that night.)

These cinnamon rolls are so good, especially covered in toffee sauce-YUM.  And there is Grandma Ruth herself...she was cooking when we got there but took a break to listen to the live music.

Next stop:

We saw so many celebrities!

And we went through the Maze of Mirrors.  It was a weird experience.  I sort of worried about what we'd do if the fire alarm happened to go off, and it was difficult to keep track of the kids, but it was fun!

Then we played mini golf at Pirate's Cove.

Spring Break, Part 3 (Rhett's Birthday)

Rhett was lucky to have his birthday fall during spring break--no school for him!  He got to sleep in and have a late breakfast.  We went out for lunch then Lane grilled burgers for us that night.  My parents and grandparents came to eat with us too.  It was another fun day!

BIRTHDAY BOY!

This eleven year old is sweet, respectful, smart, helpful, thoughtful and responsible.  He's a good leader and a caring friend.  We've had the opportunity to watch him step out of his comfort zone since we moved last summer, and he has done so with faith, confidence and courage.  My only complaint is that he's just growing up too fast!  We look forward to seeing what God has in store for him.

It's always fun to climb on hay bales.  I used to like doing this when I was a kid (actually I still think it's fun)!  :)  It was such a pretty day.

Sad to see a fun trip come to an end, but thankful for a great time together and sweet memories made.
