Rose Mary's Birthday Dinner

Yesterday afternoon we went to Hot Springs to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. We had a dinner at Lane's brother & sister-in-law's house. Lance grilled tenderloin, and we also had scalloped potatoes, asparagus, broccoli salad and rolls...for dessert, a delicious Italian Cream cake (and cupcakes for the kids) from Ambrosia Bakery.

Rose Mary ("Grammy") and her five grandchildren:
Luke (15), Katie (12 this week), Rhett (6), Alexee (3) and Crosby (17 months)
Rose Mary looked so pretty!
She loves her family so much and loves to have them all together.
I tried to get a picture of her with each grandchild individually. (Crosby and Alexee were a little bit hard to photograph though--they wouldn't look at the camera.)

After Crosby's photo, Luke offered to hold him. :) Luke and Katie are both very very sweet with our kids. They're so patient with them, and Rhett and Alexee think their older cousins are super fun and cool! Luke let Rhett try out his drum set and Katie let Alexee try on lots of jewelry.

We took C's outfit off when it was cupcake time because he won't leave a bib on. He was VERY busy during the party. He was good, but I think he looked at everything in the entire house (most of it breakable!). Thanks to everyone for taking turns chasing him! Dena's turn:
R & A help Grammy with the candles
Alexee requested the cupcake with pink and purple icing.
The kids helping with gifts
Bob spent a lot of time chasing C!
I guess I should have put C's outfit back on him after the cupcakes...but it had a lot of buttons and he's never still!
As a group gift from the kids/grandkids, we gave Rose Mary a quilt made from patches of all the grandkids' baby clothes. Jennifer found someone in Hot Springs to make it, and we were really pleased with how it turned out. I think Rose Mary liked it! Luke and Katie holding it up to show her:
Each grandchild had their own square with their name and birthdate embroidered in the center.
As her personal gift to Grammy, Katie sang "Memory" and did such a good job. Katie has a very pretty voice, and she loves drama, dance, etc.

With Jennifer's parents, Kent & Zanette
They live in Hot Springs as well and are good friends with Lane's parents
Jennifer and I (and the kids) also put together a little scrapbook for her that she can add to.
Rose Mary, you are so special to all of us. Thank you for all you do.
We love you and hope you had a wonderful birthday!
