Rhett and I had a night out tonight. We went to the evening story time at the library. The theme was firefighters and police, but I failed to notice that on the calendar. Other kids came dressed up. One little boy had on the complete firefighter outfit--coat, hat and boots. A firefighter was scheduled to visit the story time, but I guess an emergency came up because he didn't show.

R likes to toss pennies into the "wishing well" (there was a thin layer of pollen covering the water tonight). I think he had four or five pennies. I'm not sure what all his wishes were, but he told me that his last one was that he wished for a gate on our front yard so that Bogart wouldn't always run into the neighbors' yards.

Alexee's Crocs
I ran into the Crown Shop today to pick up a gift and noticed that some of their crocs were 50% off. There happened to be a cute little teal green pair just Alexee's size. Her little feet look so cute in them--and she's really proud of them, as you can tell from this first picture. :) She has Pedipeds and Robeez, but she needed something with a real sole for walking outside, playing at the park, etc. These should be perfect for that:

Morning at the zoo
The weather was nice this morning, so we called a few friends last-minute and got together at the zoo.
This is Ali helping the boys (Logan, Lawson & Rhett) with the penny-smashing machine (it's a great deal...you put in 50 cents plus a penny, and in return you get a smashed penny to keep!).

Did you see it?
Don't want to give anything away in case you have it recorded...
But isn't it amazing what they've done this season!? I love this show--I'm sad that it's over.

Colorful Drive
This first picture is in our front yard. The others were taken between our house and Rhett's MDO this morning. It's such a beautiful time of year here, and the temperature finally feels almost spring-like today! I wish the color would last a little longer...I love driving around looking at things in bloom right now!

Date Night Movie
Lane & I went to see Leatherheads last night. We both thought it was so funny! It's hard to go wrong with George Clooney, and I also really like John Krasinski from "The Office".

Two More Photos

Dad & Rhett planting watermelon seeds this morning (an idea Rhett got from somewhere?). They picked up a packet of seeds yesterday on their way to the shop.
Mom & R feeding Banner the pony at the barn.

Country Air
We just returned from our Flippin visit. As always, it was wonderful to be there, spend time with my family, play outside and enjoy life in the country. Here are some of the highlights in photos:
Alexee & her Great-Grandmother, "Mo Nina", sitting on the hay in the barn
One of the bluebird nests that Rhett & Granddad found.
Granddad, R & A ready for a farm buggy ride.
in the field behind Mom & Dad's house.
Windy day!
Mo & Rhett
Alexee is fascinated with giant (but friendly) "Clay Dog".
Alexee enjoyed rolling around in the mud. She was the dirtiest she'd been in 14 months!
Mom & A by the redbud tree in front of their house.

I brought these tulip bulbs to Mom one spring when I was in college--several of them still bloom! My favorite flower (or one of them at least).

Alexee & Oliver, the almost 14 year old cocker spaniel.
Mom & Rhett at Pizza Hut.
Mo Nina & Rhett.
Playing camp-out in the horse trailer.

Rhett and Granddad went to the shop two nights in a row--Rhett was thrilled! R loves to sit in the old cars, sweep, ride the go-cart, etc. He told me last night that they "had a party at the shop". From what I could tell (I wasn't invited) this included drinking green tea, riding in the hotrod suburban around the parking lot and "laying black marks in the parking lot" while riding the go-cart with Uncle Greg (Dad's brother).

I love how he's standing here by the suburban that Dad restored.
I took this one with my phone, so it's fuzzy, but it is of Rhett peeking in a bird house looking at the flying squirrel that had made a nest inside.

Driving back home after a fun time in Flippin.

Visiting Family
We're in Flippin visiting my family! We drove up this morning. Rhett has had a great time this afternoon checking the bluebird houses with Dad (he found several eggs and also a flying squirrel, which he thought was a mouse), feeding the horses with Mom, playing basketball and riding in the farm buggy. I guess Alexee was really relaxed once she got here because we had to wake her up from her 3 hour nap! Dad grilled chicken on the "big green egg" (charcoal grill), and then Dad & I went for a quick walk while Mom gave R his bath. I'm hoping it's sunny tomorrow...but I'm hearing thunder as I type this. We always love coming up to visit my family, but we miss Lane and Bogart. Lane said I couldn't bring Bogart with us because it would just be way too lonely around there. I think I'm going to work on my scrapbook and go to bed early (before midnight!). I'll post pictures later.

Dentist Appointment/Juggling Act
This morning A went to my dentist appointment with me. I had a box of raisins in my lap, along with my purse, so I could constantly hand her snacks, sunglasses, calculators, Pez dispensers, and car keys. She did great, and really only got bored at the very end. Thankfully, the receptionist popped in for a few minutes of entertainment with the yellow sunglasses, so that was a big help. I barely noticed the nurse cleaning my teeth--she was just sort of there working while I tried to keep Alexee happy in the stroller (well, I DID notice the flossing--my goodness, why do they have to floss SO hard!?).
After that appointment, I decided to push my luck a little more and take A with me to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. She was super sweet there...she didn't even want to walk around the waiting room (it was fairly clean, but I was fine with her not walking around touching everything)...she just sat on my lap eating Cheerios and smiling at all the other customers. Things don't always go so well, but I'm always grateful when they do!
(P.S. I'm so glad that Jiffy Lube has stopped removing parts from cars and carrying them into the waiting room to try to convince you to buy new ones. Now they just ask a series of questions listed on the computer, and I am much better at saying "no" to the computer's recommendations than to the person holding half my car in the waiting area full of people!)
