Kindergarten Sock Hop

October 31 was not only Halloween, but also the 50th day of school, and the kindergarten classes celebrated with a 50s Sock Hop!  I thought it was such a cute idea!  For some reason I decided to make Alexee a poodle skirt instead of just ordering one (which would have been much faster, probably cheaper...and surely would have fit her better!)  Pay no attention to the elastic waist-band...I obviously had no clue what I was doing.  Lady Harris, if you're reading this, could we please have a play date/sewing lesson sometime soon!?  :)  Oh well, with the help of a safety pin it was functional, and I thought she looked SUPER sweet!
Before school
When we got back from dropping the kids off at school, Crosby looked out the front door and said, "Come look--there are two things out here!"  We found the newspaper and an envelope propped up against the brick wall.  He was very excited to find that the envelope contained Halloween goodies from Grammy and Bobba!  He went right to work on the craft and decorated the back door for us.  Alexee and Rhett were happy to get their cards and crafts after school, too!  Thank you, Bob and Rose Mary.
 Now we're ready for Halloween!
The Sock Hop was scheduled to begin in the K flex space at 12:30.  Crosby and I went a little bit early to help get the sugar cookies and root beer floats ready for the class.  First they danced, then they had their snacks.  They had a lot of energy even before all the sugar!!!  Whew, I know those teachers had to be tired last night!  :)
When I got to her classroom, Mrs. D told me that Alexee had been feeling bad/had a sore throat, but she didn't want to go to the nurse's office because she didn't want to miss the party.  :(  She tried to have a good time, but I could tell she wasn't herself.  Her eyes looked so tired and she kept saying she needed to get a drink of water.  I let her leave with me after the party, and she came home and fell asleep on the couch--that never happens, so she must have felt bad.
 Good job, Alexee!
Mrs. D looked really cute dressed up, too!
Crosby had fun dancing in his Razorbacks jersey. :)
This little girl looked really pretty!  Isn't that a cute poodle skirt!

What a fun day of celebration for them...and they still had trick-or-treating to look forward to!

Carving & Festival

Rhett and Alexee waited patiently for Crosby to wake up from his nap on Sunday so we could carve pumpkins.  I asked C if he wanted his to have a happy face or a scary face--he said he wanted it to be happy.  :)  R and A both drew their own jack-o-lantern faces, R did the scooping of the seeds and Lane and I did the carving.  Alexee and Crosby got bored quickly and moved on to jumping into leaves in the back yard.

I love Alexee's sweet smile.
We tried to make Bogart sit in the picture, but he didn't want to.
As soon as we finished the carving project, the kids changed into their costumes and we all went to our church's Family Fest/Trunk-or-Treat.  It was a lot of fun playing games and seeing friends.

Ann Katherine & Alexee
Alexee wanted to dress up like her American Girl doll, Marie-Grace, this year.  Rhett wanted to be Captain America, and Crosby chose Spider-Man.
They all three did the cupcake walk.  R & C both won cupcakes during the first few rounds, but it took many, many rounds for A's number to get called.  Lane was sweet to stand there with her for probably another 20-25 minutes while I took the boys to the jump houses.  She finally won!
There was a firetruck there for display--that was one of C's favorite things, of course!  Many of the adults handing out candy were dressed up, too--it was fun to see their costumes.  I thought it was really nice of them to make it so special for all the children.

When we got home that night we lit the jack-o-lanterns on the front steps.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Corn Maze! Corn Maze!

Last weekend we went to see Mario, Micaela, Jaiden & Jeryn's new place.  It's out in the country and so pretty and peaceful. I'm excited for them to move there later this month.  There is already a place for a garden, so we plan to  work together on that project next spring--I can't wait!  They'll only be about 25 minutes from our house.

Dad, Mario and Rhett were measuring for the barn.
Next we had lunch at Logan's where Crosby ate a LOT of peanuts.
After lunch we all drove out to the pumpkin patch for the afternoon.  Crosby had heard us talking at lunch, I guess, so when we parked and got out of the car he was yelling, "Corn maze!  Corn Maze!"  I don't think he even knew what a corn maze was until we got there, but he's always ready for some fun. He's such a happy kid!
Dad got all the kids tickets for the train ride through the corn field, but there was one person who didn't really want to ride.  Hint:  He sat at the veeeery back of the train.  When we saw the tractor coming our way, he said, "Great.  Here comes the Baby-Mobile."  He was a good sport and rode with the other kids and laughed about it.  It was funny, but in a way it makes me sad to think he's outgrown things like this.  A few years ago he would have begged to ride it more than once.

All aboard the "Baby-Mobile"!  :)
Crosby wasn't disappointed in the corn maze!  He loved running through it using his own map.
Alexee had her own map, too, and helped keep us on track.
We had the kids pause for just a second for a few group pictures:
Alexee had a better view from here!
And the masks were entertaining, too.
(Jaiden the pirate, Crosby the lion and Alexee the pumpkin)
Mom was happy to be in line for a funnel cake...but when she saw how slowly the line was moving, she gave up and we all moved on to the next stop:  the pumpkin patch.  Sorry, Mo!
Mo and Granddad helping everyone get their pumpkins loaded up.
Rhett decided on this one for carving.
So glad we all got to enjoy a pretty fall day together!
