I love Crosby's little personality. He is such a joy to me. It's so sweet to see him learn and grow. On the way to his school earlier this week I made a comment about how pretty the leaves look right now, and he agreed. I asked him, "Who made the leaves?", and he said, "God did." We made a game out of who could find the prettiest tree. When we got to the school parking lot he wanted to borrow my phone to take some pictures of all the trees around us. :) Then when we walked inside, he asked me to take his picture by a couple of trees. I say it all the time, but he is just so happy and seems to always enjoy the moment. I love his enthusiasm!

These leaves don't show up very bright in this picture, but they are a gorgeous gold.
He pointed out that this one had "cool red berries" so he wanted his picture made here too.
This morning we had an appointment with Alexee's teacher for a brief lesson on how to use the laminating machine for the kids' turkey place mats. On our way there we stopped by the garden center because I'd noticed their sign: all pumpkins 50% off. With C's help, we chose several for our Thanksgiving table decor. He liked this tractor they had on display. I think he looks so cute in this little jacket--he always wants to wear it all zipped up to the top!
And just when I thought I couldn't love this garden center more (I could spend all day there), we were told that they now have two pet monkeys! C had fun watching them. We'll have to stop back by to show Rhett and Alexee soon.
The machine was easy enough to use, and it didn't take long to laminate the 20 placemats. Crosby was very good to stay right with me and help push the start/stop button when I asked him to.
Maybe he's just used to me documenting everything we do, but he got my phone and took some pictures of the machine. :)
The place mats looked cute. Even using a template, each child's turkey looked unique. They'll get to use them for their "feast" next week--there's always something fun going on in Kindergarten!
Since this was kind-of a Crosby post, I want to document a few other things...things that seem insignificant, but they're sweet/funny to me, and I'm likely to forget if I don't write them down:
--He loves reading Snuggle Puppy of Mine, Green Eggs and Ham and Curious George Goes to the Movie (His favorite part of Snuggle Puppy is the last page when you whisper, then SHOUT--he laughs out loud every time!) Those are his favorites this week--it will change soon, but until it does, he has you read the same books over and over again.
--He says the "W" sound in place of his "L" sound. Awexee, for example. I'm no speech pathologist, but yesterday I asked him to watch my mouth when I said L words, then had him try it. He's such a good student, and tries to do exactly what you tell him. He worked so hard to say it right.
--He gets up early. Some days it's as early as 5:15. He always comes right up beside my pillow and "whispers" (loudly), "Can I turn on a cartoon?"
--He likes to play Mario on the Wii and always wants someone to play with him because he likes to be Blue Toad or Yellow Toad, which you can only be if you're playing 2+ players. He's really good at it, too--he amazes me! He's also really good at games on R's iPad, and he wants me to play them with him but gets frustrated that I don't know how to do it!
--This morning our power went out at 6:30, and stayed out until about 8:00a. I was planning to drive to school (we carpool with a neighbor), but I realized the garage door wouldn't go up without power. I panicked and tried calling and texting Lane because I knew there was a way to open it manually but I couldn't remember what to pull/push on the motor to be able to do it. Meanwhile, my neighbor called to see if I could get out of the garage and I told her I hadn't figured it out yet. She was going to send her husband over to help, but he said he'd drive all the kids to school instead. As soon as they were gone I Googled how to manually open a garage door and went out to the garage to see if I could reach the lever. Crosby went with me...and pushed the garage door button on the wall...and the door started going up. Oh yeah, I think I vaguely remember Lane telling me that the new motor he installed last spring has a battery back-up--what a helpful feature. Ha! Thanks, Crosby! (And sorry, Matt, for being dumb and probably making you late for work this morning.)
