Disney: Day 2 at Animal Kingdom

Day 2.  I think we all secretly wished we could sleep in a little more after all those steps taken at Epcot the previous day, but we had breakfast reservations so we were out the door by about 7:30.  We caught the bus to Animal Kingdom and went straight to Tusker House for the character breakfast buffet.
Rhett, deep in thought on the bus ride
The holiday decorations were so neat at all the parks.  Animal Kingdom had an animal themed tree, of course!
The characters are cute in their safari outfits.
A & C tried the safari look, too.
After breakfast we had a fast-pass for the Kilimanjaro Safari, a fun attraction with a close-up look at lots of amazing animals.
Lane and Rhett went to ride more rides.
And we met more characters.  Tarzan was somewhat awkward-ha!
This was a neat area, especially when we realized that "rock" was actually a hippo way off in the distance and he started moving closer to us.  What a creature!
Festival of the Lion King was a very entertaining show.  The costumes were so colorful and elaborate, and we really liked the monkey acrobats.  I would definitely recommend it.
another cute little monkey, climbing on rocks. :)
It's Tough to be a Bug...not Alexee's favorite attraction, but the boys thought it was funny!  She didn't like the pretend bugs under your feet and in your seat.  I thought they were cute in their 3-D glasses.
By early afternoon we had done everything we wanted to do at this park, so we decided to go back to the resort and let the kids swim.  They were excited about this, and Lane and I were perfectly happy sitting in the lounge chairs watching them!  It was a nice afternoon.
That evening we decided to go out for a non-Disney dinner at Cheesecake Factory (in a nearby mall).  We always enjoy eating at CF, and we finally agreed on two cheesecake slices for dessert...I think one was salted caramel and one was peppermint.  Whew, this was not an easy decision!  :)  We stopped at Trader Joe's on our way back to the hotel to stock up on cookie butter and a few granola bars and bagels for quick breakfasts in the room.
