Friday night was the College of Medicine Honors Convocation, held at Fellowship Bible Church. We were thankful to have Lane's parents, my parents and my sister and brother-in-law join us for Lane's special evening. We all met at Bravo for dinner before the ceremony. The food was great, and it was a perfect location because it's just a couple of minutes from the church. I hadn't seen my parents and sister since mid-March...way too long! It was so nice to have everyone together.

For dessert, I brought a box of assorted cupcakes. They're all delicious, but my favorite is their "Razorback Red Velvet".
It POURED rain while we ate, but there was a slight break in it about the time we needed to go to the church. We reserved seats, then I went to take pictures in the room where the students were waiting.Like Lane, both of these guys will be staying here for their residencies.
This is the group of guys that Lane became good friends with during the last four years. Many of them will be moving soon for out of state residencies. L to R: Nathan, Luke, Rob, Daniel, John H, Graham, Austin, Lane, Chad and Madison
Congratulations and best wishes to all of you!

Class of 2011 greeting the audience

Robert Bradsher, M.D. delivered a very touching Address to the Students.

Lane thinks very highly of Dr. Bradsher--he has been a trusted advisor to Lane throughout his time at UAMS.
The Hooding of the Class was also a very meaningful part of the evening. The students chose James Graham, M.D. and Sara Tariq, M.D., to assist with this honor. The hood colors are green, red and white--green representing medicine and red and white symbolizing the colors of the University of Arkansas.

The final part of the program was the Administration of the Oath of Hippocrates.

Lane and his Mom

Lane, I am very very proud of you, too! You've done a wonderful job balancing a LOT during these last four years. I love you and look forward to seeing how God will use your gifts to serve others in the field of medicine in the years ahead.

This was such a special occasion for our family...
Time to go home and get some rest because tomorrow it all becomes official!
