Yesterday we dyed eggs to take to an egg hunt that we were invited to. I bought the glitter paint kit...what was I thinking?!. I've always liked coloring eggs. Rhett enjoyed it this year, too. He did a great job with the paint. Here are a few pictures of the project:

Afternoon with Mo & Granddad
My parents came down yesterday afternoon to spend some birthday celebration time with Rhett. We were so glad to see them!
Granddad brought a few new Ranger caps, and Rhett stuck the tags on himself and on Granddad. They are alike in a lot of ways! Can you tell by their sneaky grins? :)
They took him to Cold Stone for ice cream then went to the zoo. They offered to take him to the toy store to choose a toy for his birthday, but he said the toy store wasn't very fun and he just wanted to go to the zoo...not a normal response from a kid, but whatever--it was his celebration day! :) He told us that "the toy store wasn't what he was envisioning". It always cracks me up when he uses words like this.
Is this a cute 4 year old or what!?
Rhett & Mo smiling with their delicious orders. This is R's "usual"--green apple with gummy bear.

Field Trip
Today we took a trip to the Wye Mountain daffodil field. It is a 25 minute drive from our house. Take a look at the new photo album here.

"I think my mind has gone to Florida"
Today is my wonderful sister's 26th birthday. My family still teases me about saying, "I think my mind has gone to Florida" when they told me that she'd been born. I was (and still am) so thrilled to have a sister! She is a precious blessing in my life.
Here we are last Christmas.
Here's her sweet family
She's fun, energetic, athletic, compassionate, hilarious...the list goes on! She's beautiful both inside and out! Happy Birthday, Micaela!

A future in pro football?
Rhett received a Peyton Manning Nerf football from a friend for his birthday. Do you think Peyton ever practiced in swim trunks and cowboy boots?
I like the expression on his face in this one.
Bogart wasn't much of a team player.

The Birthday Celebration Begins
Rhett's actual birthday isn't until the 17th, but we had his birthday party yesterday afternoon. I think he really had fun. Rhett and Alexee are both here "helping" me at the computer, so I won't elaborate on the party...just take a look at the pics here. :)

Snowman Dress
I'm going to assume (hope) that it will be time for spring dresses now...so I dressed Alexee in her snowman dress one more time and snapped her picture in the snow. Our snowman had toppled over, so he couldn't be in the photo.

Bundled Up!
We did get snow! There wasn't much when we first woke up this morning, but it continued to snow throughout the day, so there was finally enough to play in!
Rhett cleaning up for Alexee (she took the lid off of the sprinkles).
Wishing she could bundle up and go outside with Rhett
These bulbs were a little too optimistic about the arrival of spring. I hope they'll still bloom??

The finished product. :)

Snow is falling...
11:33 p.m.--just looked out and snow is falling! I really hope there is enough on the ground for Rhett to play in tomorrow morning. I feel guilty for not keeping him home from school on Tuesday because the snow had melted by the time I picked him up, and he was so disappointed. :( Hopefully we can make up for it tomorrow. And maybe there will even be enough snow to cancel school for Lane so we can just have a fun family day at home!

The Pengellys
My friend Melody just started a blog! She has such a precious family, and she is so sweet and creative--I'm sure her blog will be wonderful! Check it out here. M, I'm so glad you decided to do this...I'm adding you as one of my links! :)

Spring Indoors
It was certainly not "spring-like" outdoors today (it rained and rained and rained some more), but we added a few spring touches inside anyway. I love Easter and spring decorations (although I don't have many).

I've had this little tree since college--I had it in my room at school (Nicole, do you remember this?) :)
Lane's Mom gave me these cute egg candles last year. They're too cute to burn! The white container is from Southern Living at Home, and I put florist foam in the bottom and stuck decorative eggs in the container and hid the foam with Easter grass.
Heather gave me this cute polka-dot Easter egg dish when I went to visit her last week (thanks, H!) I meant to buy pastel candies for it, but I forgot, so it holds peppermints for now.
The tulips and jonquils that Rhett and I planted last fall are coming up in the front flower beds. I hope this cold front tomorrow doesn't ruin them!? I can't wait for them to bloom!

Swimming, Day 1
R has been so excited about starting swim lessons today! He nearly drove me crazy asking if it was time to go yet! :) He shopped for swim trunks last week at Old Navy--he chose his new brown ones to wear to get started today. I didn't know how he'd feel about actually getting into the water once we got there, but he did great. He doesn't like getting his face wet AT all, but hopefully he will improve with that. (Maybe he will improve and we'll even be able to give up the bath-time goggles!?)
The big challenge was keeping Alexee out of the pool. She could see Rhett and, as always, thought she should be able to do whatever he was doing. She was calling (her version of) "brother" out across the pool, and as you can see in the pictures below, she made her way over to the water.
It seems a little weird to be taking swim lessons when the weather is predicting 7" of snow in some parts of our state tomorrow, but I guess we're thinking ahead to warmer, sunnier days. (As we all know, it will be hot and humid here before long, and cold, dreary days will be a distant memory.) Hopefully Rhett will be a good swimmer by then and we'll be able to enjoy some fun in the sun!
